Jesus Augusto Sarcos Romero: “Chinaman” Silva Saved Manchester City
LONDON.- A goal scored by David Silva at the 87th minute gave Manchester City its first victory in the current edition of the Champion’s League, winning 1-2 against Hoffenheim in a match where the English
team, despite starting on the wrong foot, finally came out on top.
Hoffenheim took the lead at barely the 45th
second, with a goal scored by Frenchman Ishac
Belfodil with a pass by Karim
Demirbay, who took advantage of a bad play by City to take control of the
ball.
After the goal, City got fired up, and started attacking Hoffenheim.
That is how, at the eight minute, a draw was
reached, thanks to Argentinian Sergio
Agüero. The play was started by Spaniard David Silva, with a pass by Leroy
Sané, who got the ball leaning a bit sideways, to the left. Sané faced the
Hoffenheim goalie, Oliver Baumann,
who would be tricked by a center-field goal by Kun Agüero.
After the draw, City took control of the match,
setting a rhythm in a match that originally favored Hoffenheim.
Agüero had two good chances at goals against Baumann at the 33rd and 35th
minutes. Previously, at the 31st, Sterling also came close.
During the second half, City kept its control over the match, though their attacks lessened
while Hoffenheim’s increased.
However, City’s control over the ball, which
remained over 60% at all times, was clear – which increased the pressure on
Hoffenheim.
The deciding City goal came at the 87th
minute, when Stefan Bosch couldn’t
control a left-side center by Bernardo Silva. David Silva took advantage of the situation, taking the ball and
surprising Baumann with a short-distance goal.
