Jesús Augusto Sarcos Romero: Juventus and Milan give their best in the Coppa Italia
ITALY.- Juventus
can celebrate the first of two titles in four days in the Stadio Olimpico de
Roma.
Milan must justify its
investments in the pre-season by winning a title before a sanction coming from
the UEFA for not respecting the finnancial fair-play.
There is much at stake for these
two clubs in the Coppa Italia final.
Juventus wants to be the first
club to win the title four times on a row. On Sunday, it will need a draw from
Roma to obtain its seventh Serie A
title.
“We want to win everything”, stated Miralem Pjanic. “We are out the
Champions League, we are in a good position in the Serie A and we want the
Coppa Italia.”
Luego de un agotador duelo en la
Serie A con Napoli y una emotiva derrota ante Real Madrid en los cuartos de
final de la Champions, Juventus deberá encontrar energías para el último tramo
de la temporada.
“Both teams are at the end of a long season and this is the point in which we feel tired, but you always gain the energy when a final arrrives,” stated Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, the Juventus midfielder. “Compared to the Serie A matches, we are going to face a completely different team; we will do our best to win.”
Juventus won two matches in Serie
A against A.C. Milan in this season with to goals in favor and one against. The
match against A.C. Milan was a challenge when Bonicci scored the equalizer
before Sami Khedira and Cuadrado scored the goals of the 3-1 victory.
A.C. Milan is looking dor its
first tromphy since the club was bought by Chinese investors a year ago and
winning the Coppa Italia would give the
Rossoneri something to justify the summer investments.
For Hakan Calhanoglu, this final has a special tone: it is his first one.
“It is with no doubt the most important match of my career and I am ready,” said Calhagoglu, a player who has scored two goals and has assisted another one in order to make Milan win their two last matches in Serie A. “I want to win this Coppa Italia. I am at my best.”
A.C. Milan has five Coppa Italia
titles but they have not won since 2003. Gennaro Gattuso, who was a former
Milan player, has had an important impact in the team since november.
“He changed my way of
thinking,” stated Calhanoglu who
previously played for Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. “ He made me
understand Italian football. It allowed me to recover my trust,” stated the
player to Gazzeta dello Sport.
A.C. Milan and Juventus have been
faced five times in Coppa Italia, Italian Supercup and in the Champions League.
Four of them ended from the penalty spot, including the Italian Supercup 2016.
