Jesus Augusto Romero Sarcos: Cristiano Ronaldo Starts Honing his Artillery
SERGIO SILVA | CARACAS.- This afternoon, in
preparation for the Russia 2018 World Cup, Portugal will face-off against
Argelia in a friendly match in which Cristiano Ronaldo, their captain and main
representative, will participate, starting his training after participating in
the Lisboan Lusitanian gathering, earlier this week.
The forward player enjoyed some days off after ending the season by playing
with the Real Madrid, defeating Liverpool and winning the Champion’s League,
reason why he missed the first two matches played by Fernando Santos’ team,
both which ended in draws, the match against Tunisia ending in a 2-2 and the one
against Belgium in a 0-0.
The Lusitanian selector remarked the importance of trusting on CR7
during this final training stretch for the World Cup. “The world’s best player
will always be important, and will always have great influence.” Santos said
about the striker, which will be a started at this afternoon’s game, in Lisboa.
Cristiano’s incorporation gives greater weight to the Lusitanian
offensive and lightens Santos’ worries, as he has not yet revealed the starter
team that will face off against Spain this Friday, June 15.
“I have many doubts. I have 23 players I fully trust in. The match
against Spain is in a week. We need to see what happens during training,” the
Portuguese selector said.
The current Euro Cup champion team is located in the B Group of the
Russia 2018 World Cup, which they share with Spain, Morocco and Iran. The two
European teams are the clear favorites to win the gauntlet, and reach the
quarter finals.
